Harmony Montessori School

The Montessori Philosophy

The Montessori approach to learning in its most authentic understanding is the framework of our program at Harmony Montessori School. As Maria Montessori describes about the child and the learning, we affirm that education begins at birth and continues throughout life and therefore all our values apply equally to parents, teachers and all the children in the school.

  • We nurture intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and physical growth of the whole person.
  • We celebrate the natural diversity of human beings.
  • We approach learning by seeking to understand the child's uniqueness and to guide them individually at their own pace, so they fully realize their potential.
  • We strive to nurture self-esteem at every level of learning.
  • We foster the child's innate love of learning and to make their introduction to education a joyful, purposeful start to a journey of lifelong learning.

Our 3 year program caters to children, ages 3 to 6 years of age. The children participate in lessons Monday through Friday, learning, growing, and developing to reach their full potential in and out of the classroom.

A Love of Learning

Maria Montessori, a physician and educator believed that a child's education begins at birth. These early years are the most formative emotionally and physically. Early on, children have an innate desire to learn, which is only enhanced by the proper environment.

During this time children absorb information greatly, forming learning patterns and attitudes that will last a lifetime. At Harmony Montessori School we guide, nurture this love of learning and help children normalize.

According to Maria Montessori, children go through sensitive periods, during which their inner drive forces on certain aspects of their environment and excludes others. With the aid of our caring teachers, the prepared classroom environment allows students to engage in a variety of activities meaningful to their individual stage of development.
